TROOP F NEWS RELEASE September 14, 2016 Motorcyclist Killed in Madison Parish Crash Tallulah, LA – Earlier today a two vehicle crash, involving a motorcycle, killed a man from Arkansas. Shortly after 3:15 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on US Highway 65 approximately 4 miles north of the town of Tallulah. The initial investigation revealed a 2000 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by 54-year-old Michael VanBlaricum of Judsonia, AR, was traveling north on US Hwy 65 behind a 2007 Mack 18-wheeler, driven by 54-year-old Mark Hargon of Monroe, LA. The motorcycle attempted to pass the 18-wheeler when Hargon made an improper left turn onto East Bear Lake Road in front of the motorcycle. The motorcycle VanBlaricum was driving struck the side of the 18-wheeler trailer and came to rest. VanBlaricum was pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison Parish Coroner’s Office. Hargon, who was properly restrained, was not injured in the crash. Hargon was cited for improper left turn. Routine Toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. In 2016, Troop F has investigated 28 fatal crashes resulting in 29 deaths.
