TROOP F NEWS RELEASE July 7, 2016 Two Vehicle Crash in Morehouse Parish Claims Life of Bastrop Man Bastrop, LA—A Bastrop man died today after he failed to stop his vehicle at a stop sign and was then struck by another vehicle. Shortly before 12:40 p.m., on July 7, 2016, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on US Highway 425 at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 140 in the community of Log Cabin. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2006 Honda Accord, driven by 56-year-old Richard Lindeman Jr. of Bastrop, LA, was traveling west on LA 140. A 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by 24-year-old Jessica Eppinette of Bastrop, LA was traveling north on US Hwy 425. For unknown reasons, the Honda Accord failed to stop at the intersection and was struck by the Chevrolet. Lindeman, who was properly restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Morehouse Parish Coroner’s Office. Eppinette was also properly restrained at the time of the crash. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. In 2016, Troop F has investigated 20 fatal crashes resulting in 21 deaths.
