TROOP F NEWS RELEASE April 17, 2016 Passenger Dies in Three-Vehicle Crash in Ouachita Parish Monroe, LA—A Monroe man died last night after the vehicle he was a passenger in was struck by another vehicle. Shortly after 3:15 a.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2016, Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a three-vehicle crash on US Highway 165 approximately 3 miles south of the city of Monroe. The initial investigation revealed 45-year-old LaShall Evans of Monroe, LA was driving a 2013 Nissan Sentra south on US 165 and attempted to make a left turn onto Dellwood Drive. As the vehicle made the turn, it was struck by a northbound 2006 Audi driven by 28-year-old Kenneth Ceasar Jr. of Monroe, LA. After striking the Audi, the Sentra rotated into the outside northbound lane of travel and struck a 2001 Cadillac Deville. A passenger in the Sentra, 47-year-old Steven Reed of Monroe, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office. Toxicology samples were obtained from the drivers and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. In 2016, Troop F has investigated 11 fatal crashes resulting in 11 deaths.
