TROOP F NEWS RELEASE May 17, 2016 Jonesboro Man Killed in Early Morning Crash Ouachita Parish –A Jonesboro man died this morning after the vehicle he was driving side-swiped another vehicle on Louisiana Highway 34. Shortly after 8:00 a.m. on May 17, 2016, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a fatality crash that occurred on Louisiana Highway 34 just north of the Jackson Parish line. The initial investigation revealed a 1996 Toyota 4-Runner, driven by 41-year-old Rocky Parker of Jonesboro, LA, was traveling west on LA 34. The vehicle Parker was driving crossed the center line and side-swiped an eastbound 2007 Ford F-250, driven by 57-year-old Frank Watkins of Jonesboro, LA. After impact, the 4-Runner continued west and began to rollover. Parker, who was properly restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office. Toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis. This crash is still under investigation. In 2016, Troop F has investigated 13 fatal crashes resulting in 14 deaths.
