Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: July 28, 2011 Sabine Parish Fatal Crash Last night, a single vehicle crash killed a young man from Many, LA Troopers responded to the crash around 9:15 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 6 west of Many. The crash involved a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by Justin E. Dees (W/M 24 yrs). The Chevrolet was east bound on LA Hwy 6 when Dees crossed the centerline and partially entered the west bound lane. After entering the west bound lane, Dees overcorrected his vehicle and exited the right side of the roadway before entering a ditch, overturning, and colliding with a tree. Dees was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Troop E troopers have investigated 35 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in 37 fatalities.
