LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: August 1, 2011 Alcohol Suspected In Avoyelles Crash Early this morning, a single vehicle crash seriously injured a man from Plaucheville, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 2:45 am, which occurred on LA Hwy 107 near Prison Road. The crash involved a 1997 Ford Escape, driven by Cory J. Perry (B/M 38 yrs). The Ford was south bound on LA Hwy 107 when Perry lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a ditch embankment and a culvert before overturning. Perry was not wearing his seatbelt and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center. Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Motorists must be reminded that alcohol has many effects on the body. Alcohol can impair visual ability, alter sense of time and space, impair fine motor skills needed to operate a motor vehicle, and decrease reaction times. Just one drink may cause these effects. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Contact: S/T Scott Moreau Louisiana State Police Troop E Public Affairs Office: (318) 769-9USA (872) www.lsp.org _______________________________________________________
