Late Night Crash in Concordia Parish Claims One Life

Concordia Parish – On August 5, 2011, at 11:10 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a single-vehicle crash on Boggy Bayou Road in Concordia Parish that claimed the life of a 47-year-old man from Ridgecrest, LA.

According to investigating troopers, 53-year-old Henry R. Reinninger of Clayton, LA was traveling west on Boggy Bayou Road in a 1992 Geo Metro with his passenger, 47-year-old William M. Robertson of Ridgecrest, LA when the vehicle entered a curve to the right. For unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled left into the eastbound lane of travel and continued off the off the left side of the roadway. Reinninger attempted to steer the vehicle back onto the road but was unsuccessful. The vehicle rotated around, slid down a grassy embankment and struck a culvert. The vehicle came to rest on its roof after rolling over numerous times.

Robertson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Concordia Parish Coroner. Reinninger was transported to Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, LA with minor injuries. Reinninger and Robertson were both restrained at the time of the crash.

The investigation revealed that Reinninger was impaired at the time of the crash. Subsequent Reinninger’s release from the hospital, he was taken into custody and transported to the Concordia Parish Correctional facility where he was booked for operating a vehicle while intoxicated – 2nd offense, careless operation, and vehicular homicide.

The crash remains under investigation.

Troop E troopers have investigated 41 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in 43 fatalities.

Troopers would like to remind motorists to never get behind the wheel impaired and never get into a vehicle with an impaired driver. The consequences of drinking and driving can be costly or even deadly regardless of how many drinks you have consumed. Always designate a sober driver and remember that if you have had anything to drink you should not drive.
