Juvenile Killed In Rapides Parish Crash

Early this morning, a single vehicle crash killed a juvenile and moderately injured another.

Troopers responded to the crash around 5:30 am, which occurred on LA Hwy 121 at Howard Perkins Road. The crash involved a 1994 Toyota pickup, driven by Brian M. Deloach (W/M 16 yrs) of Elmer, LA. The Toyota was north bound on LA Hwy 121 when Deloach lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a curve warning sign before colliding with a tree and overturning.

Deloach was not wearing his seatbelt and was partially ejected. He was pronounced dead. His only passenger was a juvenile (W/M 15 yrs) of Elmer, LA. The passenger received moderate injuries and was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask for you to take one second to “buckle up”!

Troop E troopers have investigated 24 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in 25 fatalities.
