| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: June 18, 2011 Concordia Parish Serious Injury Crash Earlier today, a crash involving two vehicles seriously injured a man from Monterey, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 7:45 am, which occurred on LA Hwy 129 at LA Hwy 565. The crash involved a 1988 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Phillip W. Smith (W/M 74 yrs) of Monterey, LA and a 2011 Honda motorcycle, driven by Hulon R. Parrish (W/M 51 yrs) of Monterey, LA. The Chevrolet was south bound on LA Hwy 129 when Smith turned left into the path of the north bound Honda. This action caused the Honda to collide with the Chevrolet. Smith received minor injuries and was transported to Riverland Medical Center. Parrish received serious injuries and was transported to Riverland Medical Center. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Smith was charged with Failure to Yield.
