Concordia Parish Fatal Crash Earlier this week, a crash involving two vehicles has killed a man from Ridgecrest, LA.
Troopers responded to the crash on August 9, 2011, around 6:00 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 15 north of US Hwy 84. The crash involved a 2002 Dodge pickup, driven by Alicia H. Armstrong (W/F 53 yrs) of Ridgecrest, LA and a 1997 Freightliner, driven by Billy R. Weatherspoon (B/M 54 yrs) of Ferriday, LA. Prior to the crash, the Freightliner had exited a private driveway and had proceeded south bound on LA Hwy 15 when the southbound Dodge collided with its rear.
Alicia H. Armstrong received minor injuries and was transported to Riverland Hospital. Her only passenger, identified as Robert A. Armstrong (W/M 54 yrs), later died at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, LA. He was not wearing his seatbelt.
Weatherspoon was not injured.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Troop E troopers have investigated 44 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in 46 fatalities.
