TROOP E - NEWS RELEASE August 19, 2011 Teen Seriously Injured In Winn Parish Crash Last night, a single vehicle crash seriously injured a teen from Atlanta, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 9:00 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 34 east of LA Hwy 471. The crash involved a 1989 Toyota Camry, driven by Jared J. Drewitt (B/M 19 yrs). The Toyota was east bound on LA Hwy 34 when Drewitt lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a ditch and two trees. Drewitt was not wearing his seatbelt and received serious injuries. He was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash.
