TROOP E - NEWS RELEASE

October 26, 2011

Rapides Parish Fatal Crash

Late yesterday afternoon, a crash involving two vehicles killed a man from Glenmora, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 5:10 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 121 at LA Hwy 112. The crash involved a 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis, driven by a juvenile (W/M 16 yrs) of Glenmora, LA and a 1993 Peterbilt, driven by David P. Carroll (W/M 44 yrs) of Hineston, LA. The Mercury was south bound on LA Hwy 121 when the juvenile attempted to make a left turn onto LA Hwy 112. This action caused the north bound Peterbilt to collide with the Mercury.

The juvenile was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. His only passenger, identified as Floyd G. Goleman (W/M 80 yrs), was wearing his seatbelt, but was pronounced dead at Rapides Regional Medical Center. The juvenile was charged with Improper Turning and No Driver’s License.

Carroll was wearing his seatbelt and received minor injuries. He was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”

Troop E troopers have investigated 60 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in 64 fatalities.
