Vernon Parish Serious Injury Crash Earlier today, a crash involving two vehicles seriously injured a woman from Anacoco, LA.
Troopers responded to the crash around 3:00 pm, which occurred on US Hwy 171 south of Leesville, LA. The crash involved a 2000 Dodge van, driven by Sandra O. Orduno (W/F 40 yrs) and a 2001 International (18 wheeler), driven by Velria Victoria Dove Hebert (W/F 58 yrs) of DeRidder, LA. Both vehicles were south bound on US Hwy 171 prior to the collision. The Dodge was in the left lane traveling beside the International, which was in the right lane, when Orduno lost control and collided with the trailer of the International.
Orduno received serious injuries and was transported to Byrd Hospital. It is unknown if she was wearing her seatbelt.
Hebert was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”
