Early this morning, a single vehicle crash killed a teenager from Glenmora, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 2:30 am, which occurred on East Cady Avenue in McNary. The crash involved a 1998 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Richard B. Kellogg (W/M 19 yrs). The Jeep was east bound on East Cady Avenue when Kellogg lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle struck a culvert and began overturning.

Kellogg was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected. He was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”

Troop E troopers have investigated 64 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in 68 fatalities.
