Early yesterday morning, a single vehicle crash killed a man and injured his passenger.

Troopers responded to the crash around 3:45 am, which occurred on Ebinizer Cemetery Road near LA Hwy 121 in Vernon Parish. The crash involved a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Gordon Anderson (W/M 34 yrs) of Leesville, LA. The Chevrolet was east bound on Ebinizer Cemetery Road when Anderson lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle began overturning.

Anderson was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His only passenger, identified as Gladys L. Anderson (W/F 42 yrs) of Leesville, received moderate injuries. She was transported to Byrd Memorial Hospital.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”

Troop E troopers have investigated 45 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in 47 fatalities.
