Pedestrian Killed In Sabine Crash Late last night, a crash involving one vehicle killed a pedestrian from Many, LA.
Troopers responded to the crash around 11:50 pm, which occurred on Behan Loop Road in Sabine Parish. The crash involved a 1994 GMC pickup, driven by Jackie Lee Bennett (W/M 46 yrs) of Many, LA and a pedestrian, identified as Tresa L. Foy (W/F 28 yrs) of Many, LA. The GMC was south bound on Behan Loop Road, which is a gravel road without any roadway markings. According to Bennett, Foy was standing on the left side of the roadway and as he approached her location, she ran across the roadway into the path of his vehicle.
Bennett was not injured in the crash. Three juveniles were passengers in his vehicle at the time of the crash. None were injured. Bennett was charged with Vehicular Homicide and DWI 1st Offense. He was booked into the Sabine Parish Detention Center.
Foy was pronounced dead.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
Motorists must be reminded that alcohol has many effects on the body. Alcohol can impair visual ability, alter sense of time and space, impair fine motor skills needed to operate a motor vehicle, and decrease reaction times. Just one drink may cause these effects. Troop E troopers have investigated 46 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in 48 fatalities.
