Earlier today, a crash involving two vehicles killed a man from Oakdale, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 4:00 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 121 at Valentine Lake Road. The crash involved a 2011 Pitts (log truck), driven by Stacy D. Dickens (W/M 41 yrs) and a 2001 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Tori L. Thacker (W/F 27 yrs) of Hineston, LA. The Pitts was north bound on LA Hwy 121 when Dickens crossed the centerline and collided with the south bound Chevrolet. After impact, the Pitts exited the left side of the roadway and collided with several trees and the Chevrolet came to rest in a ditch.

Dickens was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Thacker was not wearing her seatbelt and received moderate injuries. She was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”

Troop E troopers have investigated 47 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in 49 fatalities.
