Two Young Teens Killed In Natchitoches Parish Crash Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed two teens and injured another.
Troopers responded to the crash around 6:00 pm, which occurred on Hampton Road north of LA Hwy 494. The crash involved a 2007 Ford Escape, driven by Kelcie P. Vercher (W/F 16 yrs) of Robeline, LA. The Ford was north bound on Hampton Road when Vercher lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle fell off the river bank of Cane River and came to rest in the river on its roof.
Vercher was not wearing her seatbelt and was pronounced dead. Kaitlyn Rachal (W/F 15 yrs) of Natchitoches, LA and a juvenile (W/F 15 yrs) of Robeline were passengers in Vercher’s vehicle. Rachal was wearing her seatbelt and was pronounced dead. The unnamed juvenile was not wearing her seatbelt and received moderate injuries. She was transported to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”
Troop E troopers have investigated 53 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in 57 fatalities.
