TROOP E - NEWS RELEASE
September 18, 2011
Vernon Parish Fatal Crash Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Beaumont, TX.
Troopers responded to the crash around 11:00 am, which occurred on US Hwy 171 south of Rosepine, LA. The crash involved a 1999 Dodge Neon, driven by Gerald R. Wright (W/M 28 yrs). The Dodge was south bound on US Hwy 171 when Wright drifted off the right side of the roadway and collided with a culvert.
Wright was wearing his seatbelt, but was pronounced dead.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”
Troop E troopers have investigated 54 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in 58 fatalities.
