Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Jena, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 2:10 am, which occurred on US Hwy 84 west of LA Hwy 8. The crash involved a 2011 GMC pickup, driven by Micah B. Neal (W/M 21 yrs). The GMC was west bound on US Hwy 84 when Neal lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle struck a private driveway, which caused it to vault and overturn.

Neal was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”

Troop E troopers have investigated 55 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in 59 fatalities.
