| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: May 11, 2011 Rapides Parish Fatal Crash Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed a woman from Boyce, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 12:15 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 112 west of US Hwy 165. The crash involved a 2007 Honda Accord, driven by Kristal D. Mitchell (W/F 28 yrs). The Honda was west bound on LA Hwy 112 when Mitchell lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a tree before becoming engulfed in flames. It is unknown if Mitchell was wearing her seatbelt. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E troopers have investigated 19 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in 20 fatalities.
