Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: November 5, 2010 Troop E’s “Kids’ Day Project” This week, Troopers from Troop E visited schools in five of their ten parishes that they cover. Troopers visited schools in Avoyelles, Concordia, Catahoula, and LaSalle Parishes. They also participated in the Pecan Festival’s “Kids’ Day” in Colfax, LA. During the week, Troopers came in contact with over 2,000 students and adults. All participants received information on seatbelt safety, bicycle safety, LSP Command Center, LSP SWAT, LSP K-9/Criminal Patrols, and LSP Motorcycle Unit operations/procedures. Each student and adult was able to visually observe and/or tour each piece of equipment. Each event was a huge success with positive interaction between all involved. The goal of Troop E’s “Kids’ Day Project” is to promote learning and to establish or reinforce a positive relationship between children/adults and law enforcement.
