Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: December 1, 2010 LaSalle Parish Fatal Crash Earlier today, a crash involving two vehicles killed a man from Jena, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 1:30 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 127 near the community of Summerville. The crash involved a 1999 Buick LeSabre, driven by Debra N. Strong (W/F 58 yrs) of Grayson, LA and a 2011 International (garbage truck), driven by Marvin E. Price (W/M 48 yrs). The Buick was north bound on LA Hwy 127 when Strong crossed the centerline and collided with the south bound International. After the initial collision, the Buick exited the south bound side of the roadway, collided with a ditch embankment, and overturned. The International exited the north bound side of the roadway and collided with a tree. Strong received moderate injuries and was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center. Price was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead. His only passenger, identified as Willie R. Thomas (B/M 74 yrs) of Jena, received moderate injuries and was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center. Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E troopers have investigated 56 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 62 fatalities.
