Edmonson, Superintendent Troop E Press Release December 4, 2010 Marksville Man in Critical Condition After Crash Today, Louisiana State Police Troop E investigated a single vehicle crash involving an all terrain vehicle. The crash left a Marksville man in critical condition. According to investigating troopers, on December 4, 2010, at 1:38 p.m., a 2005 Honda 4-wheeler all terrain vehicle driven by 24-year-old Jacob Guillett of Marksville, LA, was traveling north on LA 1. An Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s deputy crossed the ATV on LA 1. The deputy turned his unit around and activated his emergency lights. Guillett turned east on Beauregard Landry Road. After turning on Beauregard Landry Road the deputy lost sight of Guillett as he went around a curve. Guillett failed to negotiate a right curve. Guillett ran off the left side of the road and struck a fence post. Guillett, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the ATV. He was transported by Rapides Air Med to a local hospital in critical condition. Toxicology samples were obtained from Guillett and the results are pending. This crash remains under investigation.
