Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: December 5, 2010 Teenager Dies In Natchitoches Parish Crash On Friday, November 26, 2010, a single vehicle crash occurred that has resulted in the death of a teenager from Stonewall, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 4:00 am, which occurred on LA Hwy 6 west of I-49. The crash involved a 2005 GMC Envoy, driven by Edward N. Vartenian (W/M 19 yrs). The GMC was west bound on LA Hwy 6 when Vartenian lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a ditch embankment and began overturning. Vartenian was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected. He was transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. Louisiana State Police Troop E was notified that on December 1, 2010 Vartenian was pronounced dead from injuries he sustained during the crash. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E troopers have investigated 58 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 64 fatalities.
