Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: December 5, 2010 Toddler Killed In LaSalle Parish Crash Earlier today, a crash involving two vehicles has resulted in the death of a toddler and four other injuries. Troopers responded to the crash around 2:15 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 127 at LA Hwy 460. The crash involved a 1974 Ford pickup, driven by Adam William Grant (W/M 28 yrs) of Jonesville, LA and a 2005 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Kyle Levi Hatfield (W/M 24 yrs) of Jena, LA. The Ford was north bound on LA Hwy 127 when Grant crossed the centerline and collided with the Chevrolet, which was south bound on LA Hwy 127. Grant was seriously injured and was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center. There were three passengers in Grant’s vehicle, identified as Wendy Blasingame (W/F 23 yrs) of Jena, LA, a four month old (W/F) of Jena, LA, and Gerald Andrew Grant (W/M 2 yrs) of Jonesville, LA. Blasingame received minor injuries and was transported to LaSalle General. The four month old received moderate injuries and was transported to LaSalle General. Gerald Andrew Grant was pronounced dead. Hatfield received minor injuries, but refused medical attention. Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E troopers have investigated 59 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 65 fatalities.
