Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: August 21, 2010 Catahoula Parish Fatal Crash Last night, a crash involving an ATV killed a woman and injured a teenager. Troopers responded to the crash around 8:00 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 124 north of Harrisonburg, LA. The crash involved a 2004 Yamaha Rhino, driven by Mickie J. Shirley (W/F 26 yrs) of Enterprise, LA. The Yamaha was east bound on LA Hwy 124 when Shirley lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the Yamaha reentered the roadway and began overturning. Shirley was transported to Citizens Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Her only passenger was a juvenile (W/F 16 yrs). She sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Citizens Medical Center. Both were ejected during the crash. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. *The public is reminded that it is dangerous and illegal to operate off-road vehicles (i.e. three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and other all-terrain vehicles) on any public roadway in this state. Troop E troopers have investigated 41 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 47 fatalities.
