Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: September 3, 2010 Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Natchitoches Parish Crash Yesterday afternoon, a single vehicle crash seriously injured a man from Natchez, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 6:00 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 494 east of LA Hwy 1. The crash involved a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Ruben M. O'neal Jr. (W/M 60 yrs). The Harley was east bound on LA Hwy 494 when O'neal Jr. lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the motorcycle impacted the edge of a private driveway before colliding with a metal mailbox. O'neal Jr. was wearing a novelty helmet that was not D.O.T. approved. He was transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport for treatment. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
