Department of Public Safety-Leesville Town Meeting

Colonel Mike Edmonson, Deputy Secretary of Public Safety and Superintendent of State Police, is pleased to announce the latest Department of Public Safety (DPS) Town Meeting. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 20, 2010 in Leesville, LA. It will be held at the Leesville Country Club, 331 Country Club Road, Leesville, LA, beginning at 6:00 pm. The hosts are Sheriff Sam Craft of the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department and Senator John Smith. The public and media are encouraged to attend.

The purpose of the DPS Town Meeting is to provide the public with information relative to the broad range of services offered by the Department. Each DPS department head will brief the public on its operations. Additionally, the public will have the opportunity to ask questions or raise concerns about departmental issues or problems. This event is designed as an open forum for the public to provide input and feedback.

"I am committed to ensuring that the Department of Public Safety functions as a part of the community - not apart from it,” Edmonson said. “We have over three thousand DPS employees dedicated to public safety, customer service and transparency in the Department’s operation. I hope the residents of Leesville and the surrounding areas will attend and participate as we are all partners in ensuring the safety of Louisiana's citizens."

DPS Representatives will include:

Colonel Mike Edmonson - Deputy Secretary of Public Safety and Superintendent of State Police
Jill Boudreaux - Undersecretary
Fire Marshall Butch Browning - Office of the Fire Marshall
Kay Hodges - Department of Motor Vehicles
John LeBlanc - Highway Safety Commission

Area elected officials have been invited along with local and parish public safety partners.

“The success of the DPS Town Meeting depends on you, the citizens, as we work diligently every day to serve your needs,” Edmonson said.
