Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: September 26, 2010 Alcohol Suspected In Deadly Natchitoches Parish Crash Earlier this morning, a single vehicle crash killed a woman and seriously injured a man. Troopers responded to the crash around 9:15 am, which occurred on LA Hwy 490 east of I-49. The crash involved a 1997 Honda Accord, driven by Joseph D. Delarcerda (W/M 21 yrs) of Chopin, LA. The Honda was east bound on LA Hwy 490 when Delarcerda lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a tree. Delarcerda was not wearing his seatbelt and received serious injuries. He was transported to Rapides General Hospital for treatment. His only passenger, Lauren D. Delrie (W/F 21 yrs) of Chopin, LA, was not wearing her seatbelt and was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E troopers have investigated 46 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 52 fatalities.
