| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: September 28, 2010 Grant Parish Fatal Crash Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Castor, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 4:15 pm, which occurred on US Hwy 71 north of LA Hwy 34. The crash involved a 2008 Freightliner, driven by Emmett V. Womack III (W/M 31 yrs). The Freightliner was north bound on US Hwy 71 when Womack III lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, Womack III overcorrected his vehicle, reentered US Hwy 71, and exited the left side before colliding with several trees. Womack III was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected during the crash. He was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E troopers have investigated 49 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 55 fatalities.
