Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: February 25, 2011 Natchitoches Parish Fatal Crash Last night, a crash involving two vehicles killed one person and injured three others. Troopers responded to the crash around 7:30 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 6 at Shady Grove Road. The crash involved a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina, driven by Sir Patrick B. Sowell (B/M 56 yrs) of Natchitoches, LA and a 2000 Ford SUV, driven by Nolan Boudreaux (W/M 70 yrs) of Robeline, LA. Both vehicles were west bound on LA Hwy 6 when the Chevrolet pulled to the shoulder and attempted to make a u-turn in front of the Ford. This action caused the Ford to collide with the Chevrolet. Sowell was transported to Natchitoches Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was not wearing his seatbelt. Boudreaux was wearing his seatbelt and was transported to Natchitoches Regional Hospital with moderate injuries. His only two passengers, identified as Mary Boudreaux (62 yrs) of Robeline, LA and Shirley Cormier (79 yrs) of Youngsville, LA, received moderate injuries and were transported to Natchitoches Regional Hospital. Both passengers were wearing their seatbelts. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E troopers have investigated ten fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in eleven fatalities.
