LSP Detectives Make Arrest in Staged Crash

Louisiana State Police Detectives have arrested four people in connection with a staged crash in Avoyelles Parish.

On February 8, 2011, Adrian Robertson contacted State Farm Insurance Company and filed a claim stating that she was involved in a motor vehicle crash with another vehicle, driven by Ruby Ivory. Robertson stated to her insurance company that the crash occurred in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot in Avoyelles Parish. Robertson claimed that she along with her passengers; Lillie Davis and Robertson’s four (4) juvenile children were injured as a result of the crash and sought medical treatment for their injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, Ruby Ivory, also contacted State Farm Insurance Company and claimed that she, along with her passengers; April Ivory and Ruby Ivory’s five (5) juvenile children were injured as a result of the crash and sought medical treatment for their injuries. As a result of this claim, Adrian Robertson was paid for collision damages and Ruby Ivory was paid for property damage. Each injury that was claimed could have potentially received $2500.00.

LSP Detectives began an investigation into the claim and determined that the crash had never occurred and all of the events, damages, and injuries were fabricated. Individuals involved in this claim have extensive claims histories and have been suspected of many fictitious crashes/claims.

On April 13, 2011, arrest affidavits and warrants were presented to a 12th Judicial District Avoyelles Parish Judge. Judge William Bennett reviewed and signed the arrest affidavits and arrest warrants.

On April 26, 2011, Lillie Davis, Adrian Robertson, Ruby Ivory, and April Ivory were arrested on the aforementioned warrants without incident and booked into the Avoyelles Parish Jail. They were booked for the following charges:

Adrian Robertson (B/F, 33 yoa from Simmesport, LA): Insurance Fraud, Criminal Conspiracy

Lillie Davis (B/F, 27 yoa from Simmesport, LA): Insurance Fraud, Criminal Conspiracy

April Ivory (B/F, 31 yoa from Cottonport, LA): Insurance Fraud, Criminal Conspiracy

Ruby Ivory (B/F, 32 yoa from Simmesport, LA): Insurance Fraud (6 counts), Criminal Conspiracy, Theft (greater than $500.00)

Insurance fraud is a crime that costs Louisiana citizens alone over 2.3 billion dollars a year, through higher taxes, increased insurance premiums, and higher costs of goods and services.
