Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: February 4, 2011 Vernon Parish Fatal Crash Late last night, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Leesville, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 11:45 pm, which occurred on Bailey Road south of LA Hwy 10. The crash involved a 1981 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Harold R. West (W/M 53 yrs). The Chevrolet was south bound on Bailey Road when West lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a ditch embankment and a culvert before overturning. West was not wearing his seatbelt and was partially ejected. West was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E troopers have investigated seven fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in eight fatalities.
