Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: January 1, 2011 Grant Parish Fatal Crash Earlier today, a crash involving two vehicles killed one woman and injured two others. Troopers responded to the crash around 4:00 pm, which occurred on Fairfield Road north of LA Hwy 8. The crash involved a 1995 Nissan pickup, driven by Breck D. Richards (W/F 36 yrs) of Dry Prong, LA and a 1999 Plymouth van, driven by Vera F. Goff (W/F 70 yrs) of Dry Prong, LA. The Nissan was south bound and the Plymouth was north bound on Fairfield Road when the crash occurred. Both vehicles were being operated left of center when they collided. Richards was not wearing her seatbelt and was pronounced dead. Goff was wearing her seatbelt and received serious injuries. She was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center. Her only passenger, identified as Janet R. Butt (46 yrs) of Dry Prong, was wearing her seatbelt and received moderate injuries. She was transported to Cabrini Hospital. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E troopers have investigated one fatal crash for the year of 2011, resulting in one fatality.
