Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: January 20, 2011 Avoyelles Parish Fatal Crash On Saturday, January 15, 2011, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Marksville, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 5:10 am, which occurred on LA Hwy 114 east of LA Hwy 115. The crash involved a 1982 Chevrolet Caprice, driven by Hercules B. Rogers Jr. (B/M 25 yrs). The Chevrolet was west bound on LA Hwy 114 when Rogers Jr. lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a mailbox, a culvert, and an embankment to a private sidewalk. Rogers Jr. was transported to Bunkie Hospital with what appeared to be moderate injuries. He was later transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on Monday, January 17, 2011. He was not wearing his seatbelt. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E troopers have investigated four fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in five fatalities.
