Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: February 3, 2011 Pitkin Man Killed In Crash Earlier today, a crash involving two vehicles killed one man and injured another. Troopers responded to the crash around 2:15 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 113 near LA Hwy 462, in Rapides Parish. The crash involved a 2007 Dodge pickup, driven by Jody Thompson (W/M 32 yrs) and a 2007 Kenworth (garbage truck), driven by Eric D. Robertson (B/M 37 yrs) of Shreveport, LA. The Dodge was south bound on LA Hwy 113 when Thompson crossed the centerline and collided with the north bound Kenworth. Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene. Robertson received moderate injuries and was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center. Weather is not a suspected factor. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E troopers have investigated six fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in seven fatalities.
