Young Teen Killed In LaSalle Parish Crash

Late last night, a single vehicle crash killed a young teenager from Jena, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 11:20 p.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 127 in Nebo, LA. The crash involved a 1998 GMC pickup, driven by Bradly C. Smith (W/M 16 yrs). The GMC was northbound on LA Hwy 127 when Smith lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a tree.

Smith was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”

Troop E Troopers have investigated 53 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 58 fatalities.
