Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Winnsboro, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 7:50 a.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 8 near Rhinehart, LA. The crash involved a 2005 Kenworth (18 wheeler), driven by Charles D. Rose (B/M 32 yrs). The Kenworth was westbound on LA Hwy 8 when Rose lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, Rose attempted to reenter LA Hwy 8 and the Kenworth began to rotate. As the vehicle began to rotate, the vehicle’s load shifted causing the Kenworth to begin overturning.

Rose was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”

Troop E Troopers have investigated 54 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 59 fatalities.
