Earlier this evening, a single vehicle crash killed a woman from Marksville, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 6:47 p.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 1 at LA Hwy 1195. The crash involved a 1997 Ford SUV, driven by Loraine M. Paul (W/F 32 yrs). The Ford was northbound on LA Hwy 1 when Paul lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle began overturning and collided with a telephone/utility pole.

Paul was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected. She was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”

Troop E Troopers have investigated 55 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 60 fatalities.
