Troop E - NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release December 8, 2012 Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash Involving Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputy NATCHITOCHES PARISH- This afternoon, Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop E investigated a single vehicle fatal crash on LA Highway 1 south of LA Highway 120 which claimed the life of a Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputy. According to investigating Troopers, on December 8, 2012, at 2:38 p.m., 24-year-old Deputy Ricky Issac Jr. of Natchitoches was driving a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s unit, south on LA Highway 1. Under rainy conditions, Deputy Issac was entering a slight left curve when his unit hydroplaned and traveled off the roadway. Deputy Issac’s unit traveled down an embankment and struck several trees before coming to rest. Deputy Issac, who was properly restrained, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived. “It is with a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences to Deputy Ricky Issac’s family and the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office,” said Colonel Mike Edmonson, State Police Superintendent. “We will work closely with Sheriff Jones and his agency to provide any support they may need as they go through this very trying time.” Deputy Issac was on-duty when the crash occurred.
