School Bus Involved In Natchitoches Parish Fatal Crash |
TROOP E - NEWS RELEASE
December 11, 2012
School Bus Involved In Natchitoches Parish Fatal Crash Early this morning, a single vehicle crash killed a woman from Chestnut, LA.
Troopers responded to the crash around 6:35 a.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 153 south of LA Hwy 155. The crash involved a 1999 school bus, driven by Alberta L. Conlay (W/F 67 yrs). The school bus was northbound on LA Hwy 153 when Conlay lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with several trees and a fence before traveling down an embankment.
Conlay was not wearing her seatbelt and was pronounced dead. It is suspected that a medical condition was the primary cause of the crash.
There were not any passengers/children on the school bus at the time of the crash.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”
Troop E Troopers have investigated 58 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 63 fatalities.
