TROOP E - NEWS RELEASE
December 30, 2012
Ferriday Man Killed In Concordia Parish Crash Last night, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Ferriday, LA.
Troopers responded to the crash around 8:15 p.m., which occurred on US Hwy 84 east of LA Hwy 566. The crash involved a 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche, driven by Fred W. McClung Jr. (W/M 61 yrs). The Chevrolet was eastbound on US Hwy 84 when McClung Jr. lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a large tree.
McClung Jr. was wearing his seatbelt, but was pronounced dead.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
While not all crashes are survivable, seatbelts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury.
Troop E Troopers have investigated 62 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 67 fatalities.
