Winn Parish Crash Results In Multiple Injuries Late this afternoon, a crash involving two vehicles seriously injured two and moderately injured two others.
Troopers responded to the crash around 5:30 p.m., which occurred on US Hwy 71 at the Winn/Natchitoches Parish line. The crash involved a 2006 Nissan Maxima, driven by Darren L. Jackson (B/M 41 yrs) of Campti, LA and a 1999 GMC pickup, driven by Samuel A. Daenen (W/M 50 yrs) of Dry Prong, LA. The Nissan was southbound on US Hwy 71 when Jackson lost control and crossed the centerline. This action resulted in the Nissan colliding with the northbound GMC.
Jackson was not wearing his seatbelt and received serious injuries. He was transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport.
Samuel Daenen was wearing his seatbelt and received moderate injuries. He was transported to Natchitoches Regional Hospital. His only two passengers, identified as Sheryl D. Daenen (W/F 43 yrs) of Dry Prong, LA and Joshua C. Daenen (W/M 25 yrs) of Pineville, LA, were wearing their seatbelts. Sheryl Daenen received serious injuries and was transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. Joshua Daenen received moderate injuries and was transported to Natchitoches Regional Hospital.
Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”
