TROOP E - NEWS RELEASE
October 18, 2012
Unrestrained Motorist Killed In Sabine Parish Crash Early this morning, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Pleasant Hill, LA.
Troopers responded to the crash around 12:22 a.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 175 near Belmont Road. The crash involved a 1991 Ford Crown Victoria, driven by Daniel Ray Bridges (W/M 51 yrs). The Ford was northbound on LA Hwy 175 when Bridges lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a telephone pole, two fence posts, and a tree before coming to rest.
Bridges was not wearing his seatbelt and was partially ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”
Troop E Troopers have investigated 50 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 55 fatalities.
