TROOP E NEWS RELEASE May 22, 2013 Pollock Man Killed In Grant Parish Crash Grant Parish – Late last night, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Pollock, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 11:10 p.m., which occurred on US Hwy 165 south of Pollock. The crash involved a 1995 GMC pickup, driven by Coy E. Kirtland (W/M 76 yrs). The GMC was northbound on US Hwy 165 when Kirtland lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with two culverts before overturning. Kirtland was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Troop E Troopers have investigated seventeen fatal crashes in 2013, resulting in seventeen fatalities.
