TROOP E NEWS RELEASE May 8, 2013 Texas Man Killed In Sabine Parish Crash Sabine Parish – Earlier today, a crash involving two vehicles killed a man from Pineland, TX. Troopers responded to the crash around 6:40 a.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 191 north of LA Hwy 6. The crash involved a 2004 Freightliner, driven by Tyrone D. Galloway (B/M 39 yrs) and a 1990 GMC, driven by Darwin R. Northcut (W/M 28 yrs) of Zwolle, LA. The Freightliner was northbound on LA Hwy 191 when it crossed the centerline into the southbound lane. In an attempt to avoid the southbound GMC, Galloway over steered to the right. This action resulted in the Freightliner overturning before colliding with the GMC. It is unknown if Galloway was wearing his seatbelt. He was transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport and pronounced dead. Northcut was wearing his seatbelt and received moderate injuries. His only passenger, identified as Daniel Lee Snodgrass (W/M 25 yrs) of Zwolle, was wearing his seatbelt and received moderate injuries. Both were transported to Sabine Medical for treatment. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. While not all crashes are survivable, seatbelts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury. Troop E Troopers have investigated fifteen fatal crashes in 2013, resulting in fifteen fatalities.
