Pollock Woman Killed In Hit And Run Crash Late last night, a crash involving a pedestrian killed a woman from Pollock, LA.
Troopers responded to the crash around 10:00 p.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 116, at Humphries Grocery, in Rapides Parish. The crash involved an unknown vehicle and a pedestrian. The pedestrian is identified as Sonnie R. Thompson (W/F 30 yrs). The unknown vehicle was westbound on LA Hwy 116 when it struck Thompson and did not stop. Thompson was walking or standing in the westbound lane at the time of the collision. She was located in the center of the roadway after the collision.
According to evidence at the scene, Thompson was killed as a result of the initial collision. After the initial collision, Thompson was struck by at least three additional passing vehicles.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
When walking near a roadway always make yourself visible to drivers by wearing bright/light colored clothing and reflective materials. Pedestrians that are walking at night should try to carry a flashlight for added safety. A person should always walk on a sidewalk, but if there is not a sidewalk available, you should always walk on the shoulder or if no shoulder is available, as close to the roadway edge facing traffic.
Troop E Troopers have investigated four fatal crashes in 2013, resulting in four fatalities.
