TROOP E - NEWS RELEASE March 1, 2013 Rapides Parish Serious Injury Crash Libuse, LA- Earlier today, a single vehicle crash seriously injured a woman from Deville, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 9:20 a.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 1205 at Barron Chapel Road. The crash involved a 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass, driven by Shasta L. Watson (W/F 33 yrs). The Oldsmobile was northbound on LA Hwy 1205 when Watson lost control and slightly exited the left side of the roadway. Watson was wearing her seatbelt, but received serious injuries. She was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. While not all crashes are survivable, seatbelts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury.
