Region 3 - NEWS RELEASE March 8, 2013 Alexandria Residents Arrested On Multiple Charges Alexandria, LA- On Friday, March 8, 2013, Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigation/Alexandria Field Office (LSP AFO) arrested Carl Michael Green Jr. (B/M 29 yrs) and Shalonda Latrell Lavalais Eggins (B/F 30 yrs), both of Alexandria, LA. In late January, of this year, Louisiana State Police Troop E Criminal Patrol Troopers conducted a traffic stop, in Rapides Parish, that involved Green Jr. and Eggins. This traffic stop resulted in the discovery of approximately one pound of powder cocaine and other controlled dangerous substances. Green Jr. and Eggins were booked that night for narcotics related charges and a follow up investigation ensued. As information was gathered, a search warrant was obtained and executed. The search warrant revealed numerous indications of criminal activity, including aggravated cruelty to animals/dog fighting. An arrest warrant was obtained on Green Jr. for three counts of aggravated cruelty to animals as well as a search warrant for his residence. Earlier today, LSP AFO Narcotics Troopers, with the assistance of Troop E Troopers, FBI, Alexandria Police Department, Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana Probation and Parole, and Alexandria Animal Control executed a search warrant on the suspects’ residence. Five Pit Bull dogs were seized and released to Alexandria Animal Control. Two of the five dogs were previously reported stolen in Alexandria. Numerous other pieces of evidence, related to dog fighting/cruelty to animals, were located and seized. Several types of prescription controlled medications were seized, as well as surveillance video equipment and a loaded 9mm Ruger Pistol. Green Jr. and Eggins were then charged and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. Other charges are possible on multiple suspects.
